First time mom here to my precious daughter Ellie. And since day 1, the process of finding the perfect nursing bra has been intimidating. Yes, I’ve heard the horror stories from fellow moms about breastfeeding complications like clogged ducts and mastitis caused by improperly fitting bras. But there’s also dealing with my breast size fluctuations — especially as I’ve begun introducing solids to Ellie’s diet. I’ve seen them go up and down three cup sizes in a matter of days!
During this journey, I kept coming across nursing bras from two premium maternity brands — Bodily and Kindred Bravely — both promising max comfort and functionality. So, let’s put each to the test!
In my hands-on review, I compared Bodily’s The Everything Bra and Kindred Bravely’s Simply Sublime Nursing Bra on comfort & materials, stretch, easy nursing access, and overall design. I also consulted with Jess Kimball, a Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC, PMH-C), who explains what’s most important in a nursing bra. Spoiler alert: Bodily’s comfier, expert-designed The Everything Bra won every category.
First, What to Look for in a Nursing Bra
Yes, a nursing bra provides easy access for nursing. But the ideal bra also supports your engorged and changing breasts, and protects your soon-to-be super sensitive nipples from friction. Jess Kimball, our Certified Lactation Consultant, breaks down the key features every new mom should look for:
🌸 Material Matters: Material should be soft, breathable, and stretchy. Opt for materials like micromodal that improve comfort and reduce moisture, preventing infections like thrush.
🧘 Fit and Flexibility: Your body is constantly changing postpartum. High stretch (horizontally and vertically) is key.
✅ Easy Access for Nursing: Look for features like one-handed clasps and multiple nursing access points.
🚫 Avoid: Constriction and excessive padding that increase the chance of breastfeeding complications, like clogged ducts and mastitis.
So, how do Bodily’s The Everything Bra and Kindred Bravely’s Simply Sublime Nursing Bra stack up?
☁️ Comfort & Materials: Bodily Wins With The Softest Fabric
From the moment I slipped on Bodily’s The Everything Bra, I knew I had found something special. The fabric (a dreamy viscose/micromodal/elastane blend) is the softest I’ve ever felt in a bra. It’s also made to the OEKO-TEX 100 safety standard, which tests against over 1,000 harmful substances. Breathable and stretchy, it hugs my curves without any point of restriction. I wear this bra day and night — it's that comfortable.
Kindred Bravely’s Simply Sublime Nursing Bra is bulkier — more like a traditional bra — with thick fabric on both the band and cups. The fabric uses a standard spandex and nylon blend — less stretchy than Bodily’s, and no mention of a safety certification. Simply put, it doesn’t offer the same level of comfort and breathability as the Bodily bra. After a few hours of wear, it left impressions on my ribcage, and I started to build up some uncomfy boob sweat.
🔄 Size Adjustability: Bodily Wins With Maximum Stretch Features
I went up two cup sizes during pregnancy, and now my size usually depends on when I last fed Ellie.
Bodily’s The Everything Bra has features designed specifically for my oversupply days. The front strap sliders, combined with its super stretchy fabric, provide maximum comfort and flexibility. I also noticed that the back closure was five-row, instead of three like traditional bras. That gave me extra room to breathe between my feeding sessions and constant postpartum size changes.
Kindred Bravely’s Simply Sublime Nursing Bra also features adjustable front strap sliders, but only has a four-row back closure. Combined with its lower stretch material, the bra was constricting.
👶 Easy Nursing Access: Bodily Wins With Multiple Access Points
When I’m nursing a newborn every 1-2 hours, speed and ease of access are key. Both bras offer a one-handed, clip-down access point which makes feedings quick and hassle-free for Ellie. Their nursing clips easily clasp and unclasp.
But Bodily’s additional pull-down option, with its stretchy neckline, made all the difference — especially for nighttime feeding. When I can barely even keep my eyes open, nursing without searching for the clip or fully removing my bra is a game-changer.
💡 Expertise: Designed by Experts, Bodily Takes the Lead
As a first-time breastfeeding mom, it was scary to learn that a wrong bra can actually lead to breastfeeding complications. According to Kimball, “Common problems like mastitis, clogged ducts, and thrush can not only decrease supply but also pose health risks.”
Bodily’s bra was designed alongside lactation consultants (just like Jess Kimball), giving me confidence that it supports breast health. “During the first few months postpartum, you should avoid any restrictive or structured padding to minimize the risk of breastfeeding issues,” Kimball explains. That is why the cup- and padding-free design of The Everything Bra provides the perfect level of support. It’s designed to be less supportive than Kindred Bravely’s bra, which features thicker padding that “can cause discomfort and lead to issues like infection, clogged ducts, or even mastitis,” says Kimball. Bodily’s unique commitment to expert design that focuses on my breast health sets it apart for me.
Conclusion: Bodily’s The Everything Bra is the Best Nursing Bra!
Bodily’s The Everything Bra is my top nursing bra pick for its cloud-like comfort, superior stretch, easy nursing access, and expert design. Kimball, our Certified Lactation Consultant, agrees: “Not all nursing bras are the same! Bodily’s The Everything Bra is a fantastic choice for new mothers.”
