There are so many choices to make when it comes to personal health products. Do you want to save on less expensive products or spend a little extra on well made items that last longer? When it comes to your dental health, there are even more options. Do you want a battery-operated toothbrush or an old-fashioned manual one? Last month, I decided to give Quip a try. It’s an electric toothbrush with a sleek and modern design, that’s definitely not the cheapest option on the market, but had a seriously good impact on my dental health. Here are four things you need to know.

Design

The first thing I noticed about Quip was its design. The toothbrush itself is sleek and minimalist and comes in plastic or metal versions. I love that it doesn't look like all the other electric toothbrushes on the market - it’s beautifully designed and almost looks something you’d buy in the MOMA store. Quip comes in a few different colors, so you can choose one that matches your bathroom decor or your personal style (hint: go for the matte black metal).

Ease of Use

Quip is super easy to use: you just wet your bristles, add toothpaste, and turn it on. It works by producing gentle sonic vibrations that work best if you brush in circular motions. Quip never hurt my teeth or gums, but did feel a little underpowered at times compared to other electric toothbrushes I’ve tried.

Bristles

One thing that sets Quip apart from other electric toothbrushes is its bristles. Quip has normal bristles as well as soft silicone bristles that help get even more thorough cleaning done. Plus, there's a tongue scraper on the back of the brush head. I haven't seen that on any other toothbrush!

Price

Quip is definitely more expensive than your usual toothbrush. Their brushes start around $25 and can run up to $60 for their “smart” version (note: this doesn’t include extra charges for monthly brush head refills). That may sound expensive, but it’s actually much cheaper than some other electric toothbrushes on the market like OralB and Snow. Some of those are more than $150!

The Verdict

So what's my final verdict on Quip? I think it's a great toothbrush but it's not for everyone because of the price tag. If you're looking for an electric toothbrush with a sleek design and unique features like soft silicone bristles and a tongue scraper, then Quip is definitely worth checking out! But if you’re satisfied with your dental routine, stick with a good old-fashioned toothbrush.
